Voltage Regulator Using Transistor

A voltage regulator in electrical circuits,  is used to change the level of the output signal. Its main purpose is to change the power supplied to the load. Using the device, they control the speed of electric motors, the level of illumination, the sound volume, and the heating of devices. In radio stores, you can buy a finished product, but it’s easy to make a voltage regulator with your own hands.

Simple circuits

To control the output voltage for low-power devices, you can assemble a simple voltage regulator on 2 parts. All you need is a transistor and a variable resistor. The operation of the circuit is simple: with the help of a variable resistor, induction (unlocking of the transistor) occurs.

If the control terminal of the resistor is in the lower position, then the voltage at the output of the circuit is zero. And if the output moves to the upper position, then the transistor becomes maximally open, and the output signal level will be equal to the voltage of the power source minus the drop in the potential difference across the transistor.

When the resistance changes, the output voltage is regulated. Depending on the type of transistor, the switching circuit also changes. The smaller the value of the variable resistor, the smoother the adjustment. The disadvantage of the circuit is the excessive heating of the transistor, so the greater the difference between V in and V out, the more it will heat up.

Any transistor can be used but power full transistor like(2sc5200) will give full result and will not burn. You can control till 56 v by using 2sc5200 transistor.

Here in this diagram, we can see how to make the diagram? Let’s go to watch a video for making this project. how to make voltage regulator using the transistor.
